How the team got here
Four eras that shaped how we work, from the first machines we built ourselves to production AI and distributed systems. This is the experience behind the decisions we make on your stack.
RedRobot K.K. is a boutique studio that consults and builds production software (AI, data platforms, and enterprise blockchain) for clients worldwide, from Tokyo.
Timeline
-
Where the craft started
Long before client work and production deadlines, two of us were already inside the machine. Sixth grade. Swap-meet boards and scavenged parts. Homemade PCs that only stayed alive if you understood them. We learned by assembling, breaking, fixing, and writing software that had to run on iron we had built ourselves. That early apprenticeship never really ended. It is still how this studio approaches systems: tangible, load-bearing, and owned end to end.
-
When the network had to stay up
We worked the early commercial internet as it hardened in the United States and landed in Japan, including helping stand up one of Japan’s early ISPs. Then stayed on the layers people actually live on: backbones, compression, encryption before it was fashionable. Research followed at France Telecom R&D (MPEG-4 Systems) and NTT DOCOMO R&D (trusted mobile): full lifecycles, foundational design, and the habit of planning for failure first. That habit still governs keys, audit trails, and anything we put in production.
-
When data became the system of record
The puzzle shifted to open-source databases at real scale, MySQL and the surrounding craft of running truth in production: what is authoritative, who may see it, how you recover when it breaks. Platform engineering grew beside it: infrastructure, security, and services that cannot go dark. Whatever AI or chain you place on top still inherits that foundation.
-
What the studio ships now
Production AI, data platforms, and enterprise L1/L2, still grounded in open-source data practice and platform engineering. Market and capital structure when a chain program needs more than a live network; security review, multi-party controls, and post-quantum key paths when the threat model requires them. A distributed world still needs a team that can order the pieces and hand over cleanly.
What we deliver
AI. Data. Blockchain. Production-ready.
Three practice areas for enterprise and growth-stage clients, plus the security work that keeps systems auditable.
-
Data platforms
Systems of record, pipelines, access control, and lineage, so AI and operations sit on recoverable truth. Open-source database craft is in the room: schema, identity, backup, and failure domains before any model conversation.
-
Production AI
Evidence-bound generation on your live estate: hybrid retrieval under ACL, right-sized private inference, human gates on irreversible effects, continuous eval, and logs that survive audit. Foundations that stay online after go-live.
-
Blockchain & Web3
Enterprise L1/L2 for real operations and ERP integration. Observable settlement, key custody, and failure domains, not market theater. Market and liquidity design when the engagement needs more than a live chain.
-
Security, keys, post-quantum, MPC
Source and smart-contract review, penetration testing, multi-party controls so no single process holds the full secret. When the threat model requires hardware-backed or quantum-resistant keys, we design and integrate; Securosys supplies the HSM.
What we bring
Skills that show up often on client projects.
- Open-source systems of record
- Platform engineering
- Blockchain and markets
- Capital and structure
- Standards and keys
- Story and launch
We design, build, review, ship, and hand over on AI, data, or blockchain. We speak plainly with operators and sponsors alike. If you need production systems and a team that has already lived through hard failures, start a conversation.
Leadership
Daniel Saito
Founder & CEO, primary contact for new work
More than thirty years across Silicon Valley and Tokyo. Founded and led companies in networks and data, including MySQL K.K. Leads RedRobot on production AI, data platforms, and enterprise blockchain.
Studio
Roppongi, Tokyo
A small team in Minato-ku, Tokyo. Clients worldwide. On site when it helps; remote when it doesn’t. You’ll know who’s on your project.
RedRobot K.K. has operated under this name since 2011. We design and deliver production software, security reviews, and key management when the threat model requires it. Work your operators can run after we hand it over.
